Internationally Known

Marrying and having a child with someone who is from a faraway land is quite an experience. Not only do you have to learn to compromise a bit more than the average married couple but you also face different sets of challenges. It also makes things quite different for your children. Usually, families I see around me have grandparents living nearby or some states away. With my family, since my husband is from Uganda, my son and I have never met that side of our family. Recently my hubby was talking to his fam on the phone and it bothered me that Christopher has never met his Ugandan family. I want him to experience and bond with both families and feel close to them all. And I want to learn why my husband sometimes thinks the way he does.....LOL!

Next year, in November 2011, we are taking our late honeymoon in Jamaica for our 5 year Anniversary, which I am stupidly excited about! Soooo, we talked the other day and decided that 2012 will be the year we all go to Uganda. We will buy our tickets in the beginning of that year for the late fall or early winter. This is a good time for us because it will be right before we plan on having another child, and after we get more settled. Also, Christopher will be 4 by that time, and I will feel more comfortable with him going over there a little bit older. I think he'll be able to enjoy the experience more.

I'm anxious, nervous, and full of anticipation for our future visit. Slightly worried about our safety, but I know we will be surrounded by family, so we will be okay. I want to really soak in all of the culture and learn as many recipes as I can from his mom and sisters. And even though they all accept me from afar, I really really really hope they like me just as much in person! It is very important for me to meet the rest of my extended family and learn more about where my husband comes from.

Of course, this is 2 1/2 years away, but I am a planner so I can't help but blog about it right now! Uganda, baby!!!

My definition of bliss is living life to the fullest. I am always on a journey to grow and change. I am a woman, mother, wife, sister, and friend. I have always kept a diary or journal.....and now I keep a blog. I love to read, write, and express myself. This blog will contain my life experiences and stances. It will contain my rants and raves. It will contain my joys and my heartaches. And last but not least, it will contain ME.
