Wonton Wrappers?

Usually I'm content with being a waste of race, but today I decided to finally act Asian for the first time in my life and attempt to make some oriental cuisine........CRAB RANGOONS (thanks to being inspired by Adam)! At the store I felt completely out of place asking where the wonton wrappers were........... I was paranoid that the store clerk thought I should already KNOW where they were?! ROFL!

Photographer meets Christopher

It was as bad as I expected! We took him to get his 1 year photos done and he cried off and on, did not want to stand by himself, and kept running over to us. The photographer and I were sweating bullets just trying to get good pics. She had to tease him with a feather duster for him to smile. Miraculously, he had some great shots and I cannot wait to pick them up next week! I never imagined taking photos could be such a stressful occasion. Thank goodness it is over with!

Evenflo Triumph Advance DLX

We just purchased Christopher's 'big boy' car seat and I couldn't be more thrilled. Just like many researching mothers out there, I did my Internet research for awhile before we bought this car seat. I read tons of reviews on tons of websites and I had it narrowed down to this one and the new Graco My Ride 65. The Evenflo Triumph Advance DLX came out the winner, as it has certain features that the Graco model didn't: being able to adjust the shoulder harness without any re threading, lower side knobs that loosen and tighten the seat belt harness, 3 level seat positioning, and the plushness of the seat. However, it only seats the child to 50lbs, whereas the Graco seats until 65lbs.

The winner car seat has been compared to the Britax models, which cost around $300. Many people are purchasing the Evenflo Triumph Advance DLX because it was considered one of the top car seats in consumer reports and is half the price of a Britax. We also had a 15% off coupon, which is always the bomb. I didn't want to wait for the hubb to come home, so I installed it by myself and it was very easy. I used the LATCH system and it is extremely tight against the seat. Super easy for one person to install in the dark with no light like I did.....lol

The only minor flaw is the add-on retractable cup holder, which appears to be flimsy. But I am sure when I put it on, it will work fine if he uses it. The seat cover also comes off very easy for washing, without having to move the seat to remove it. I am sure that will come in handy for the moms that have to continuously wash their car seat covers. I personally don't believe in letting kids eat meals or snacks in the car seat, except for road trips, because I think it is a messy habit. Patience is a virtue!

Overall, I am pleased with the new car seat. It is pretty bulky, but that is the price you pay to keep your child cushioned and safe. I hope he likes it as much as much as I do....lol!

(Update - Christopher freakin loves his car seat!!!)

The Difference

I've learned that it is one thing to love your child and be a good parent, but it is an entirely different thing to love your child and be an amazing parent. Some might nurse their child when sick and provide food and shelter, but other amazing parents do that and then some. They put their child in front of their own needs and wants. They take out the time to nurture their child's growth, and when that child learns something new or meets a milestone, that parent can feel pride from their work. These amazing people know that time is short here on Earth and every precious moment is worth savoring. This does not mean they are perfect parents, it just means they know the difference.

Every moment with my son reminds me what is important. Every moment reminds me what I am here for and though it may not always be easy to be so unselfish, it is no longer about me. It is about him.
