Why is it?

The older you get, the harder it is to make and keep friends?

PICKLES

There was a cool guy I used to work with at my last jobbie that wore a shirt with this slogan on it. I thought it was hilarious!! I used to make him flash me the shirt if he wore it underneath another one just so I could crack up. Growing up, I was totally obsessed with pickles. I said once that if I had one food to live on, pickles would be my top choice. Unfortunately, after my pregnancy I stopped loving them like I used to, but they will always hold a special place in my heart.

Colors of Love

Graph taken from: Dating 101: Dealing With the Race Factor. How to cope with four common obstacles in interracial dating. By dating editor Arnold Chao - Exclusive to Yahoo! Personals

As a Korean-American woman that is married to an African man, we definitely get the typical looks or comments from other people every so often. It is something that I am used to, since I have always dated outside my race. Since I was adopted into a Caucasian-American family, I didn't grow up around any other Asians. I never really categorized myself as white or black or anything...........I have always just thought of myself as ME. I never had any restrictions on myself or other people in my life. I am happy to say that my husband feels the same way I do. He told me once that he has never seen so much racism and prejudice until he came to America.....which is pretty sad.

Interracial relationships are becoming a lot more common these days, although in certain rural areas or smaller towns, it may not seem as such. Still, despite the growing numbers, there will always be someone with a narrow mind with something nasty or rude to say. I don't let things like that bother me because it is not something that I can control. And I want to set a good example for my son to be the bigger person in those situations. I'll make sure he knows that you accept people for who they are......not what race, background, or orientation they are. Many times assumptions of what a person is like based off simple facts is misleading and ignorant.

The main focus should be on educating our children so that the generations to come can overcome the negativity and create more acceptance.

My definition of bliss is living life to the fullest. I am always on a journey to grow and change. I am a woman, mother, wife, sister, and friend. I have always kept a diary or journal.....and now I keep a blog. I love to read, write, and express myself. This blog will contain my life experiences and stances. It will contain my rants and raves. It will contain my joys and my heartaches. And last but not least, it will contain ME.
